Colorado football’s defense was firing on all cylinders in Saturday’s 34-7 win over the Arizona Wildcats, and defensive end Keaten Wade was a big reason why.
A transfer from Kentucky, Wade had been dealing with a foot injury but finally made his Colorado debut in Tucson. He immediately made his presence felt when his number was called, sacking Arizona quarterback Noah Fifita in the first quarter.
The junior later wrangled Fifita down on the first play of the fourth quarter — also on third down. Wade’s two sacks were his first in over a year, back when he was a Kentucky Wildcat.
“I just kept my head down, made sure I worked and did what he (Coach Prime) asked and wanted,” Wade said of his return from injury (h/t Mat Smith).
His twin brother, Destin, also made his CU debut at quarterback on Saturday by taking two kneel-downs late in the fourth quarter.
Collectively, the Buffaloes’ pass rush had their best performance of the head coach Deion Sanders era. Colorado racked up seven sacks, the team’s most since 2010 against Iowa State.
