Colts WR Josh Downs says he’ll play vs. Dolphins

On an appearance on the Up and Adams Show, Colts’ wide receiver Josh Downs, who is listed as questionable, said he would play on Sunday.

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Josh Downs is listed as questionable on the injury report with a toe injury ahead of the team’s matchup with Miami.

However, on an appearance on the ‘Up and Adams Show’ on Friday, Downs said he would be good to go.

“I kind of just tweaked it against the Jags, so it’s just fresh, but I wouldn’t say it’s lingering. They just taking care of me over here. I’m all good, and yeah, I’mma be out there Sunday again.”

Downs was on last week’s injury report with the same injury and was also listed as questionable before playing in Sunday’s game against Tennessee.

The return of Downs to the Colts’ offense has provided some needed stability in the short to intermediate passing games.

Over the last three games, he’s been targeted 31 times, catching 25 of those throws for 216 yards and two touchdowns. Also of note, 15 of the 25 receptions have gone for first downs and moved the chains.

During that three game span, Downs leads all receivers in slot receptions, first downs, and he’s second in yards.

This week the Colts’ offense will have Anthony Richardson back at quarterback as well and will be facing a Dolphins’ defense that has been good at limiting opponents in the passing game. Having Downs available as a reliable target will be important when it comes to sustaining drives.
