It has been quite the start for Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers, who are tied at 10 with Tony Elliott and the Virginia Cavaliers in the middle of the second quarter in Death Valley.
The Tigers’ defense has struggled more than you’d expect so far against the Cavaliers. Cade Klubnik and the offense didn’t do them many favors either, with a brutal Klubnik interception setting up a score for Virginia. Luckily, Clemson’s offense recovered shortly after.
It was an 11-play 80-yard drive for the Tigers, who could have scored on the drive’s second play. Klubnik missed a wide-open Jake Briningstool down the field, opting to dump it off and get a chunk gain. He hasn’t looked his best to start this one.
Regardless, Klubnik led a solid drive that ended with a 1-yard Phil Mafah touchdown run. Clemson will look to turn things around after this solid drive.
