Aaron Murray predicts winner of Georgia vs Texas

Several former Georgia Bulldogs, including Aaron Murray, talk about the Georgia-Texas battle.

Former Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Aaron Murray has a lot to say about the Bulldogs’ matchup at Austin vs. the No. 1 Texas Longhorns. Murray posted all of his thoughts on his X account yesterday, hosting former Bulldogs Knowshon Moreno, Brandon Boykin, Ben Jones, and Tavarres King.

Here are a couple highlights of Aaron Murray’s podcast

Brandon Boykin on the cornerbacks:

“They are not playing with technique…they are opening the gate and not looking for the ball…a lot of things can be fixed with fundamentals, especially when you’re athletic…there’s also inexperience…there are guys who are young, and haven’t played a lot of football…it’s a combination of all of that,” said Boykin, a former Georgia cornerback.

“Kirby isn’t changing the scheme for the players on the field… if you’re not skilled, than you’re not on the field… Mississippi State quarterback Van Buren got more confident as the game was going on… he was getting the ball out so quick…there isn’t too much you can do… explosive plays are not a part of Georgia’s secondary, and that’s the biggest problem.”

Aaron Murray on the Georgia defense

“There’s nothing on the defense that’s been dominant, outside of Ingram-Dawkins, DJ (Dan Jackson), and Malaki Starks,” said Murray. “They’ve only had an average to good defensive performance each game.”

On Georgia fans in general

“I think, deep down inside, they know Texas is playing better ball, but they’re thinking ‘Texas hasn’t played anyone’ trying to mask all the issues right now for Georgia, but they know deep down because of what they’ve seen,” said Murray.

On Texas’ gamescript

“Texas’s offense is better than Alabama’s offense, and their defense is better than Alabama’s defense. If Georgia gets down early, they’re not winning this game. There is no coming back. You can’t afford to go down by double digits early against Texas.”

“I think winner gets in the 40s. We cannot fall down by two scores. The longer the game remains close, the bigger chance Georgia has to win.”

Former Georgia center Ben Jones on the running game

“Our offense right now is built upon throwing it and running it when we don’t want to throw it. We used to run the ball and set up our play action and screens. Now, everybody knows when we’re passing,” said Jones.

“We have a different identity from the past,” continued Jones. “Pass blocking is a finesse, and run blocking is a mindset. You gotta want it more. We have some good athletes, but we need some Dawgs on the run.”

Aaron Murray on UGA quarterback Carson Beck

“Carson Beck has a chance to silence his critics in a big spot against Texas. It’s been my experience that the whole locker room tries to elevate their play in these types of games, and he will.”

Aaron Murray predicts that Texas will win against Georgia 38-31.

It is shocking to see Murray pick against Georgia as he rarely does so in the Kirby Smart era. However, Georgia faces a major challenge at Texas.

There will be several more predictions, including one from “College GameDay“, and the game will be televised on ABC at 7:30 p.m. ET.
