Texas A&M’s 2025 recruiting class is inching closer to signing another highly talented cycle filled with future starters at nearly every position. One of the rising wide receiver prospects is 4-star Kelshaun Johnson, who chose the Aggies over the Texas Longhorns earlier this year.
While a commitment is nice, it’s somewhat meaningless until every prospect puts pen to paper during the early or national signing period, as the month of October is usually when a bulk of longtime commits end up flipping to other programs, as Texas A&M has felt the pain late flips after former 2025 5-star WR Cam Coleman chose Auburn after Jimbo Fisher’s dismissal.
Head coach Mike Elko knows that Kelshaun Johnson’s speed and route running skillset have quickly made him one of the top offensive prospects without a 5-star designation.
After it was revealed that Johnson would visit Texas during the Longhorns’ matchup with Georgia on Saturday, Rivals insider Landyn Rosow revealed that the senior receiver will head back to College Station next weekend for Texas A&M’s Week 9 home matchup with LSU.
According to Rivals, Johnson is currently positioned as the 174th-ranked prospect in the 2026 class, the 32nd-ranked wide receiver prospect, and the 24th-ranked prospect in Texas.
Texas A&M will face Mississippi State on the road on Saturday, Oct. 19, at 3:15 p.m. CT. The game will air on the SEC Network.
