The Crimson Tide currently sit at 5-1 for the year.

Released on Wednesday morning, Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer has been named to the watch list for the 2024 Paul “Bear” Bryant Coach of the Year award.

DeBoer was one of 20 total head coaches across college football to be named to the watch list, as well as one-of-seven from the SEC alongside Mike Elko, Josh Heupel, Brian Kelly, Clark Lea, Steve Sarkisian, and Kirby Smart.

The Alabama head coach is currently in his first season in Tuscaloosa as the leader of the Crimson Tide program where he has posted a 5-1 overall record so far. DeBoer also has the Crimson Tide currently ranked as the No. 7 team in the nation.

The Paul “Bear” Bryant Coach of the Year award is named after the former Alabama great, and has been won by two Crimson Tide head coaches since its’ inception. Gene Stallings was the first of those back in 1992, while Nick Saban took home the honor in 2020.
