Michigan basketball five-star target sets decision date

Hopefully it’s a great day for the good guys! #GoBlue

Dusty May is off to a torrid start and he hasn’t even coached a game for the Michigan Wolverines as of yet.

The former Florida Atlantic and Final Four basketball coach reassembled the Michigan basketball roster quickly, utilizing a mix between the transfer portal and pulling together the 2024 recruiting class in short order. Now he’s turned his attention to 2025 and is already producing positive results.

One must-get is in-state five-star Trey McKenney, who hails from Flint (Mich.) St. Mary’s. The No. 20 player in the country, McKenney is a 6-foot-4 combo guard and has cut his list to three — Michigan, USC, and Georgetown. And now we know when he’ll announce his college choice.

According to 247Sports, McKenney will announce his decision on Nov. 9, choosing between the three.

That’s the same day that the Michigan football team will play at Indiana, which may or may not be a ranked-on-ranked game. So, if all goes to plan, it could be a very happy day for the maize and blue faithful. However, there’s also the possibility that it could be a very bad day depending on what McKenney and the football team do that day.

Michigan basketball currently has no commits in the 2025 class.
