Like most teams across the nation, the Washington Huskies have suffered injury woes at multiple positions. Edge rusher Zach Durfee has struggled with a toe injury that has forced him to miss two games this year and has left him limited in two others.
Defensive tackle Sebastian Valdez had to leave early in Washington’s 27-17 win over Michigan and sported a bulky brace on his right arm against Iowa, while tight end Quentin Moore hasn’t been seen since the team’s season opener after suffering what coach Jedd Fisch called a “substantial” MCL injury.
The Huskies also lost left tackle Maximus McCree on the first drive of the game to a dislocated thumb.
During his bye week press conference, Fisch offered updates on some of the players who have been sidelined.
“Durfee will come out of [the bye week] and play,” Fisch said. “I would say Quentin Moore and [wide receiver] Kevin Green Jr. are probably the least likely to be able to come out of this and play. It sounded like Kevin Green is going to be cleared for the USC game, so I would assume he will not come out of this, and we’ll see what this week will bring for Quentin Moore.”
Fisch went on to say that the senior might be able to play at some point during the year, but all options are on the table, including a medical redshirt.
“He didn’t have to get operated on, but we do have to let the doctors make the decision on what’s best for him. Right now, he’s not where he hoped he would be, but he is progressing at a good level.
He added that McCree’s injury will not require surgery to correct and that he doesn’t expect tight end Ryan Otton to play at any point during the year.
