Davante Adams trade grades: Who won the Jets and Raiders deal?

Big trade here for the Jets!

WOOOOOOOO BIG TRADE IN THE NFL!

Davante Adams is getting reunited with his old Green Bay Packers pal and teammate Aaron Rodgers with the New York Jets finalizing a deal to bring the disgruntled wide receiver to Gang Green on Tuesday.

It’s obviously going to improve the Jets’ offense and make a very unhappy Rodgers much happier, and maybe this means New York can contend? For the Raiders, it’s selling as part of a rebuild that might take a while.

So who won the trade? Let’s dive in as we always do with some trade grades for both sides.

The details of the trade

Jets get: WR Davante Adams

Raiders get: A conditional 3rd-round pick that could become a second-rounder

Monday’s loss to the Bills showed this team is still not the contender it thought it was. Rodgers looks inconsistent, and that makes some sense given his age and injury history, but this team thinks it’s built to win now.

So the front office went and got the player who Rodgers can instantly gel with, given their history together with the Packers.

Now: CAN they contend? That’s a really good question. I don’t see it, to be honest. But this offense now gets two really good wideouts in Adams and Garrett Wilson, and a happier Rodgers is a good thing given that the Jets are stuck with a past-his-prime QB.

With all that context and the fact that it may end up as a second-round pick, it’s a good, not GREAT trade.

GRADE: B

Las Vegas Raiders grade

It’s fairly simple: trade all your good players, tank, and rebuild in Vegas. Adams was unhappy, and the team got really good value for him especially if the pick is a second-rounder.

Plus, the Jets are paying his full contract. Simple.
