Duke stays within the top 40 of USA TODAY Sports’ college football re-rank

USA TODAY Sports updated its college football power rankings on Monday, and the Blue Devils are still within striking distance of the top 25.

It makes sense given that the Blue Devils had the weekend off, but USA TODAY Sports’ Paul Myerberg kept Duke football in the same range of his college football power rankings.

Duke, still 5-1 for the season after the bye, moved up one spot to 37th.

Funnily enough, Myerberg actually kept the Blue Devils one spot above Georgia Tech despite the Yellow Jackets beating Duke 24-14 last weekend. In their sixth straight week of play, head coach Manny Diaz and his team built a 14-10 lead on the road with 15 minutes left to play, and it seems like Myerberg gave the Blue Devils a lot of credit for that fight.

The Miami Hurricanes and Clemson Tigers were the only ACC teams within Myerberg’s top 10, the exact same situation as last week. The undefeated Pittsburgh Panthers (20th), SMU Mustangs (21st), Syracuse Orange (25th), and Louisville Cardinals (32nd) were the only other teams in the conference above the Blue Devils, and a struggling North Carolina Tar Heels team dropped down to 79th.
