What was once a question mark for the Iowa Hawkeyes to start this season has blossomed into a disruptive, game-changing force up front on defense.
Before the season started, many wondered who was going to be the pass-rushing specialist up front for Phil Parker’s defense. This wasn’t an indictment on the defensive line group, but quite possibly more so a compliment of its depth.
There was a group of guys with experience and talent, but many wondered who would step up. That question has been squarely answered by the Dayton, Iowa native, Aaron Graves.
His performance against the Washington Huskies was dominant and it has earned him the honor of being named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week.

Against the Huskies, the product from Southeast Valley High School put on one of, if not the best performances of his career. Graves registered 5 total tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and one pass deflection in an effort that shows he can do a little bit of everything.
On the year, Graves has is up to a team-leading 5 sacks and 5 tackles for loss. His two forced fumbles are tied for the lead with fellow defensive linemen Ethan Hurkett and linebacker Jay Higgins.
Graves, in his third year with the Hawkeyes, had appeared in 32 total games tallying 70 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, 10.5 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles.
