Seahawks opponent watch: Falcons stay hot, improve to 4-2

The Seattle Seahawks are currently in an active three-game losing streak. Unfortunately, the road back to victory does not get any easier this weekend. Seattle will once again travel to the east coast to take on the Atlanta Falcons on the road.

For several years now, the Falcons have been the definition of consistent mediocrity. Atlanta has finished with exactly seven wins total in five of the last six season, including the previous three years. But in 2024, it appears the Dirty Birds have a quality team. The Falcons have started the year 4-2, and are the opposite of the Seahawks right now… they are on a three-game winning streak.

Atlanta’s latest victims were the hapless Carolina Panthers, as they dismantled their division rivals 38-20 on Sunday. The Falcons offense was humming as usual, racking up 423 yards – 198 of which came on the ground. This does not bode well for a Seattle defense that has shown incredible difficulty slowing down opposing rush attacks.

Quarterback Kirk Cousins may be a punchline to some, but he is a quality signal caller in this league and is more than capable of tearing apart defenses not playing up to their best game. The Seahawks have been struggling in all three phases of the game, and if they aren’t able to use the extra time to heal up and develop better game plans, Cousins will surely torch them once more.

Seattle needs a win in the worst way possible. They started the season immaculately at 3-0, but have fallen to 3-3 on the year. Should they drop one more, they will fall below .500 ahead of a Week 8 home showdown against the Buffalo Bills.
