The Pittsburgh Steelers (3-2) take on the Las Vegas Raiders (2-3) Sunday afternoon. Kickoff from Allegiant Stadium is set for 4:05 p.m. ET (CBS). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NFL odds around the Steelers vs. Raiders odds, and make our expert NFL picks and predictions.

The Steelers have dropped 2 in a row by 3 points apiece as they fell to the Dallas Cowboys 20-17 as 2.5-point favorites last week. QB Justin Fields was 15-for-27 for 131 yards, 2 scores and 0 INTs and added 27 yards on the ground. He hasn’t been terrible, but he hasn’t been good enough to sustain drives, and a poor showing in this one could cost him his job.

Despite impressive wins over the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns, the Raiders keep following it up with slipping and falling in the toilet. They were pounded 34-18 by the Denver Broncos last week. WR Davante Adams is out due to a hamstring injury that a trade to another team likely insta-heals. They plan to use QB Aidan O’Connell under center after he went 10-for-20 for 94 yards, 0 scores and 1 INT last week.

Steelers at Raiders picks and predictions

Prediction

Steelers 21, Raiders 18.

Moneyline

The Steelers have won the matchup each of the last 2 years. Those scores were 23-18 and 13-10, and we’re just atwitter with anticipation for this one.

Actually, this one will be a good watch to see how badly LB T.J. Watt and DE Maxx Crosby caves in the other’s backfield on a pass rush. The Steelers have the edge because of the presence of bruising RB Najee Harris. They’ll ride him to wear down Crosby’s defensive line and open things up for Fields.

I don’t normally suggest this, but I’m taking STEELERS -165 here because I don’t have faith in laying the points.

Against the spread

I’m projecting a push here. So I’m going with NAJEE HARRIS OVER 58.5 RUSHING YARDS (-120). RB Jaylen Warren is expected back, and he’ll take the receiving load off of Harris. Harris had 65 yards against the Raiders last season and had 70, 69 and 70 yards when Warren was active in the first 3 weeks.

Over/Under

This total is too low. Vegas hasn’t scored fewer than 18 points the last 4 weeks even despite its QB issues. Pittsburgh, though nothing to write home about, is routinely around 20. Those trends alone cash the OVER 36.5 (-110).
