What to know from Indianapolis Colts second Week 6 injury report

Here is everything you need to know from the Indianapolis Colts’ second Week 6 injury report.

The Indianapolis Colts released their second injury report of the week on Thursday ahead of the team’s Week 6 matchup with the Tennessee Titans.

Let’s dive into what you need to know:

– Josh Downs didn’t practice for the second day in a row. Downs is dealing with a toe injury that he sustained in Sunday’s game. As of now, we don’t have any additional details, but missing two practices is certainly noteworthy. We will see what Friday holds–it’s not often that a player doesn’t practice at all and then plays that week.

– Michael Pittman was still a non-participant as he deals with a back injury. On Wednesday, Adam Schefter reported that Pittman could miss multiple weeks and could potentially end up on IR.

– Trey Sermon did return to practice on Thursday after being out Wednesday with a collarbone. Sermon and Tyler Goodson handled the workload on Sunday without Jonathan Taylor. With the unknown around Taylor’s status for this week, having Sermon available will be important.

– Braden Smith return to practice as well. This is the third week in a row where he has been out on Wednesday and then practiced on Thursday. In the previous two weeks, Smith has also sat out on Friday, but played in every game. This perhaps might be the new norm as a way to help Smith rest his knee.

– As mentioned, Taylor did not practice on Thursday, but did say he’s feeling much better.

“Oh, I’m feeling way better, which is a positive sign,” Taylor told The Athletic’s James Boyd. “Anytime you can progress throughout the week, you’re closer to getting back on the field.”

“(The pain) has gone down tremendously,” Taylor added. “That’s the biggest thing.”

– Anthony Richardson was a full participant for the first time since suffering the oblique injury in Week 4. This is certainly a good sign in regards to his availability this week. On Wednesday, Richardson spoke to the media about the boxes he needs to check in order to play on Sunday.

– Ryan Kelly was a full participant for the second day in a row. The Colts will likely have him on Sunday.

– Kwity Paye was a limited participant for the second straight day. He has missed the last two games with a quad injury. Wednesday was the first practice he participated in since sustianing the injury in Week 4. The Colts’ defensive end depth is being tested and the pass rush struggled mightiliy against the Jaguars.

– Lastly, Kenny Moore was downgraded from limited on Wednesday to a non-participant on Thursday. He is dealing with a hip injury that he also suffered in Week 4. In Moore’s place has been Chris Lammons, with Sam Womack handling the boundary duties when in base. Like the defensive end position, the cornerback depth is very much being tested.
