Vikings QB Sam Darnold to be honored at USC before Penn State matchup

Nearly eight years later, Darnold is returning to the Los Angeles Coliseum to lead his Trojans one last time.

Sam Darnold was a highly touted prospect coming out of USC in 2018. He reached that status due to his physical traits, but a performance for the ages in USC’s last major bowl win started his rise.

Nearly eight years later, Darnold is returning to the Los Angeles Coliseum to lead his Trojans one last time.

Darnold will be spending the Vikings’ Bye Week in Los Angeles as he has been invited to lead the team out of the tunnel ahead of their first matchup against Penn State since that Rose Bowl. In that Rose Bowl, Darnold led the Trojans to a victory by passing for a whopping 453 passing yards and five touchdowns.

USC now finds themselves in the Big Ten which makes Saturday’s game a conference game for them. It will be big for them, not as big as a Rose Bowl, but major impact nonetheless. Having Darnold around may give them some of the luck he has had this year, perhaps.
