ESPN analyst explains why he isn’t ranking Clemson in the Top 10

McElroy doesn’t fully believe in this Clemson team.

On ESPN’s Always College Football show, Greg McElroy shared his latest top 15 rankings as the season heads into Week 7, placing Clemson football (4-1, 3-0 ACC) just outside the top 10 at No. 11.

McElroy pointed out that while Clemson has bounced back with four consecutive wins over teams like App State, NC State, Stanford, and Florida State after losing to Georgia in their opener, their résumé still lacks a standout victory. “Clemson hasn’t beaten anybody. They haven’t,” he commented but acknowledged the Tigers’ strong form, adding, “But they sure look good, don’t they? They sure look like a team you would not want to play right now.”

In McElroy’s view, Texas claims the top spot, followed by Ohio State, Penn State, Oregon, and Alabama. Georgia is at No. 6. Miami appears at No. 7, a few places ahead of Clemson in McElroy’s lineup.

Clemson enters their Week 7 game at Wake Forest (2-3, 1-1 ACC) as the No. 10 team in the AP Top 25 and No. 11 in the Coaches Poll. The matchup is scheduled for Saturday in Winston-Salem, N.C., with kickoff at noon on ESPN.
