We highlighted it in our first look at what you need to know about Kansas State, but former Colorado running back Dylan Edwards will return to Folsom Field on Saturday for the first time as a Wildcat.
Edwards spent his freshman season with the Buffs and burst onto the scene in his first career game, scoring four touchdowns in CU’s upset win over the TCU Horned Frogs. He finished the year with 321 rushing yards before entering the transfer portal in April. The lightning-quick Derby, Kansas native then committed to Kansas State only days after entering the portal.
Ahead of Saturday’s matchup between the Buffs and Wildcats, CU football head coach Deion Sanders was asked about facing Edwards for the first time since his departure.
“They changed their name to the Dylan Edwards? That’s what the team is called now, the Dylan Edwards?” Sanders joked. “We aren’t playing against Dylan Edwards. We are playing against a darn good football team. Dylan just happens to be on their team.”
Coach Prime expanded on his answer, focusing on what he wishes for any player who leaves the team.
“I love the young man (Edwards),” Sanders said. “I love him to life. Everybody who leaves here in the right manner, I want them to be successful. I have never wished wrongful or bad things on any young man or woman in my life or on any of you all. I want you to be successful, and I want you to find your purpose.”
