Indianapolis Colts QB Anthony Richardson Wednesday practice update

Indianapolis Colts head coach Shane Steichen told reporters that quarterback Anthony Richardson would be on the practice field on Wednesday.

The Indianapolis Colts are back on the practice field on Wednesday in preparation for their Week 6 matchup with the Tennessee Titans.

Participating in today’s practice will be quarterback Anthony Richardson. However, head coach Shane Steichen did not say beforehand in what capacity Richardson will be practicing in.

The first injury report of the week will be released Wednesday afternoon and will provide us with that information.

Richardson is working through an oblique injury that he suffered in the first half of the Colts’ Week 4 matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He did practice all three days in a limited capacity last week and was initially listed as questionable on the Week 5 injury report before being downgraded to doubtful on Saturday.

The injury isn’t expected to be long-term, but as ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported last Saturday, Richardson’s status for last Sunday’s game was more so about “pain tolerance and functionality,” as Fowler put it.

Joe Flacco performed well in the Colts loss to Jacksonville. The offense put up 34 points with Flacco completing 33-of-44 passes for 359 yards with three touchdowns.

On Monday, Steichen would make it quite clear, however, that once healthy, the starting job belongs to Richardson–which is absolutely the right call. What Richardson needs–like any young quarterback–is reps and in-game experience.
