Indianapolis Colts sign OT and former basketball player to practice squad

The Indianapolis Colts signed an offensive tackle, and former college basketball player, to their practice squad.

The Indianapolis Colts continue to reshape their practice squad, announcing on Wednesday that they’ve signed offensive tackle Jack Wilson.

The corresponding move in order to make room for Wilson was releasing kicker Spencer Shrader, who the team just signed to the practice squad on Monday.

Wilson measures in at 6-11 and weighs 310 pounds. He went undrafted this past April out of Minnesota, where he was on the basketball team in 2023-2024, appearing in seven games.

Before that, Wilson appeared in 25 football games at Washington State, along with playing on their basketball team in 2022-2023.

Wilson also played basketball at Idaho and Oregon State during his collegiate career.

Most of Wilson’s experience on the football field has come on special teams. According to Pro Football Focus, he’s played just 20 total offensive snaps in his college career.

We’ve seen in the past from GM Chris Ballard that he’s very willing to bring in multi-sport athletes to the team.

Wilson is going to be a very raw football player given his little in-game experience, but with his size and footwork from his basketball background, the Colts are willing to take a swing on his upside and see if they can tap into some of that potential.
