MSU knocks off LSSU in overtime thriller

Michigan State hockey opened the 2024-25 season with a road trip to the upper peninsula, traveling to face off against Lake Superior State.

In the first game of the title defense season, the Spartans needed extra hockey to take care of the Lakers. In a 2-1 thriller, the Spartans took down LSSU in overtime.

Isaac Howard notched the first tally for MSU before Daniel Russell scored the overtime winner. The two assisted on one another’s goals in the contest.

The Spartans and the Lakers will finish off their weekend series against each other on Saturday.
