Jedd Fisch is expecting Washington’s best crowd of the year vs. Michigan

The Washington Huskies will host their best crowd of the year for Saturday’s national championship rematch with Michigan.

The Washington Huskies will take on the Michigan Wolverines on Saturday in a rematch of last season’s national championship, and coach Jedd Fisch’s team will welcome their new Big Ten foes into a sellout crowd, which is sure to be the strongest Husky Stadium will see this season.

Not only are the Huskies calling for a “Purple Out” of the stadium, but they’ve also brought in special guests to help raise the energy level. Seattle Mariners star Julio Rodriguez will sound the siren at the start of the game, while quarterback Michael Penix Jr. will be in attendance, and fellow signal-caller Billy Joe Hobert, who led Washington to its last national championship in 1991, will be honored as the game’s “Husky Legend.”

“I’m going to be completely honest: I’m most excited to see the look on my grandsons’ faces when that siren goes off at the beginning of the game and those jets fly over the stadium,” Hobert told Mike Vorel of the Seattle Times. “That’s the part I’m most stoked about.”

The electricity before a big game at Husky Stadium is unlike any other environment in college football, and Fisch will get his best look at how the raucous crowd of Husky Stadium can change the game.
