Caitlin Clark named 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year

Caitlin Clark has been named the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year, collecting 66 of 67 votes.

What has been long awaited is finally true. Former Iowa Hawkeyes legend and current WNBA All-Star for the Indiana Fever, Caitlin Clark, has been officially named the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year.

Caitlin Clark has long been the frontrunner for this award with her strong play during her rookie season despite the immense pressure on her to perform immediately.

Part of that pressure was to turn around the Indiana Fever. She did that and then some. Caitlin Clark led the Indiana Fever back to the WNBA playoffs and saw them finish with a 20-20 record, an incredible turnaround from previous seasons.

During her rookie campaign, Caitlin Clark averaged 19.2 points, 8.4 assists, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game. She has 12 double-doubles and two triple-doubles.

The voting was nearly unanimous. Caitlin Clark received 66 of the 67 votes for the WNBA Rookie of the Year with one voting giving their vote to the Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese.

Clark continued her path of shattering records in the WNBA. She set the record for the most assists in a single season, was the first rookie in WNBA history to have a triple-double, and was the first player in WNBA history to lead the league in assists and made three-point shots per game.
