Where do Colts land in ESPN’s Week 5 power rankings?

Following their second consecutive win to improve to 2-2, where do the Indianapolis Colts land in ESPN’s Week 5 power rankings?

Following a second consecutive win, the Indianapolis Colts saw another jump up ESPN’s power rankings.

Coming into Week 4, the Colts sat at No. 24, which was actually up from where they sat at No. 28 after an  0-2 start. This week, however, the Colts jumped up to No. 19 in the rankings, which is just about where they started the season, beginning at No. 18.

Determining these rankings for ESPN are more than 80 writers, editors, and TV personalities evaluating each team’s performance and then ranking them from 1-32.

Despite dealing with several key injuries on defense, the Colts have been able to do just enough on that side of the ball to help secure wins in their last two games. The success that they’ve had defensively is twofold, with their ability to generate takeaways being crucial, along with their improved run defense being an important factor as well.

The big story to watch heading into this week’s game will be on offense and around the health of Anthony Richardson and Jonathan Taylor. Both exited Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers at various points. Richardson was limited on Wednesday, while Taylor did not practice.

The fast start that we saw from the Colts’ offense in Week 4 was a product of Richardson’s big play ability in the passing game and a strong running game led by Taylor. That combination right there is the blueprint for success offensively for the Colts.

Also on this week’s injury report for the Colts is Kwity Paye, Kenny Moore, Ryan Kelly, and Braden Smith.

Next up on the schedule for the Colts is a road matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars, who at 0-4, sit at No. 30 in ESPN’s power rankings.
