Addressing Davante Adams trade news Antonio Pierce takes page out of Bill Belichick playbook

Antonio Pierce takes page out of Bill Belichick playbook when asked about the Davante Adams trade talk

We are less than 24 hours since the first reports came out that the Raiders are attempting to trade Davante Adams per the star receiver’s request. Antonio Pierce took to the podium Wednesday to start game week, so naturally the subject of conversation was the Adams trade talk.

His response was something right out the Bill Belichick ‘we’re on the Cincinnati‘ playbook, but with the rival Denver Broncos up next.

Q: You ‘liking’ the Davante Adams social media post, was that intentional on your part?

Antonio Pierce: I’m just focused on Denver

Q: Have you communicated with Davante and where is the relationship?

AP: Me and Davante talk often.

Q: Have you talked to him since all of this went down?

AP: I’ll leave that between me and Davante.

Q: Are you worried about all of this being a distraction?

AP: No. Because we’re focused on Denver.

Q: Given all the reports out there about Davante, how are you able to focus simply on Denver coming up?

AP: It starts with me. I get paid here to get ready each and every week for an opponent. I don’t blink, I don’t flinch. I’ve said it before, I’ve been through enough in my life with adversity that it doesn’t bother me. I just move forward. The next obstacle in front of me is the Denver Broncos. That’s what what I presented to my team and that’s what they’re doing right now in the meeting room and we’re about to go out to practice and do it versus the Broncos.

Q: You get the sense they absorbed that message?

AP: 100%

Q: Would a trade conversation be with you, or Telesco, or a combination of both? How would that go?

AP: I think everybody involved. Myself, Telesco, Mark Davis.

Q: With the Davante Adams situation, is there a message, a tone or a precedent you’re trying to set?

AP: No, just business as usual. You got to keep rolling. Things come up every day. Since I’ve taken over there’s been obstacles. This is another one.
