Financial implications of a Davante Adams trade shouldn’t exclude the Steelers

The Steelers should be calling on Davante Adams.

For months, the Pittsburgh Steelers were players in the market for San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, Despite the potential cost in a trade as well as a huge new contract, Pittsburgh was in the mix until the very end but missed out on adding Aiyuk.

Now there is a new option in Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams. Adams wants out of Vegas ASAP and with a month to the trade deadline, he looks to be on the move.

Obviously, the Steelers will be mentioned and we are confident that Pittsburgh will at least make a call about Adams’ availability. Critics of the notion point to Adams’ contract but honestly, we don’t see the problem.

Adams, 31, is in the third year of his 5-year/$140M contract and is due a base salary of $35.640 million in 2025 and 2026. Those last two years are both non-guaranteed years so Adams could be an interesting one-year rental with the wiggle room for Pittsburgh after the season.
