Colts injury update: DE Tyquan Lewis placed on IR

After suffering an elbow injury on Sunday, the Colts announced that they placed DE Tyquan Lewis on injured reserve.

On Tuesday morning, the Indianapolis Colts announced that they have placed defensive end Tyquan Lewis on injured reserve.

Lewis suffered an elbow injury in Sunday’s win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. He will now have to miss at least the next four games while on injured reserve.

Those games will be against Jacksonville, Tennessee, Miami, and Houston.

The depth of the Colts defensive line was one of the strengths of this unit coming into the season and was going to be a catalyst behind any defensive success.

However, just four games into the season, the depth of that unit is very much being put to the test. Samson Ebukam was placed on injured reserve before the season after suffering an Achilles injury during training camp.

DeForest Buckner is currently on injured reserve for at least two more games, and the Colts were also without Kwity Paye in this most recent game against the Steelers.

Lewis has 12 recorded pressures through four games, which is tied for the most on this Colts team. He also has played a key role in the Colts improved run defense these last two weeks with his ability at defensive end to keep the ball carrier from bouncing outside.

In addition to the production, Lewis also brings versatility to the Colts’ defensive front, able to line up inside as well when needed.

Filling Lewis’ spot on the 53-man roster, the Colts also announced that they signed defensive tackle Adam Gotsis from the practice squad.
