Rams should consider signing Julio Jones to help with red zone struggles

Free agent Julio Jones still wants to play football and with their injuries, the Rams could be a perfect place to end his storied career.

Julio Jones was once considered the best wide receiver in the NFL due to his ridiculous length, insane athleticism and pass-catching prowess. However, Father Time is undefeated and it has caught up to Jones.

Since leaving Atlanta in 2021, Jones has had stops in Tennessee, Tampa Bay and Philadelphia.

As an Eagle last season, Jones was their WR3, putting up 11 catches, 74 yards and three touchdowns.

Why should the Rams sign a player putting up that type of production? Simple. His pure height and length open up the field for everyone else.

When looking at the state of the Rams’ wide receiver room, there’s a bunch of speed guys. Tutu Atwell, Demarcus Robinson, Xavier Smith, Tyler Johnson and such. The team lacks a big, physical receiver – a player that can snatch the ball over defenders. Jones could be that option.

Jones also opens up the goal line fade, the deep jump ball and the quick slant – three routes that are effective in the red zone, a place where Sean McVay has shown a desire to throw the football.

Jones is cheap, available and ready to play. For those with concerns, the question to be asked is what’s the worst that can happen? Jones represents the best deal in football. Low-risk, high-reward.
