In the past few seasons, the Kansas City Chiefs front office has been busy making trade deadline moves to prepare for the postseason run.

During his weekly Monday Zoom press conference, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid explained his mindset regarding trade deadline moves to help improve the roster.

“Yeah, it would depend on who the guy is. I mean, that’s the obvious. If he’s got experience in the offense, and it’s not too bad.” said Reid. “But it takes, it takes somebody a little bit of time to get himself involved and get the terminology down, but it’s a lot easier now than it is during training camp, and they have to learn a kazillion plays here they just have the game week to learn and getting on the same page with the quarterback and the timing and all that. That’s a bigger issue normally.”

In past seasons, the Chiefs have acquired wide receivers at the deadline, including Kadarius Toney and the reacquisition of Mecole Hardman last season. Following those trades, Kansas City went on Super Bowl-winning runs, showing that it is a potential strategy this year.
