Former Florida Gator and Indianapolis Colts starting quarterback [autotag]Anthony Richardson[/autotag] sustained a hip injury on Sunday in an NFL game against the Pittsburgh Steelers which ultimately ruled him out for the remainder of the game.
The second-year play-caller took a hit to his right hip area after a 14-yard scamper in the first quarter, immediately grabbing his side while lying on the turf briefly before walking off unassisted. He missed a pair of plays while recovering on the sideline and returned with another rushing attempt, only to be hit hard once again by a Steelers defender with 3:58 remaining.
The team announced during the second quarter that Richardson would not return to the playing field despite him returning to the sidelines with his helmet.
Last season, the former Gator played just four games before a shoulder injury ended his rookie campaign prematurely. There were questions about his durability coming out of Florida — especially given his youth — and it appears that he is experiencing some growing pains at the professional level.
