Baker Mayfield’s remarks about bringing joy back to the Bucs clearly had Tom Brady offended

You could tell Brady didn’t like that.

In Tom Brady’s first season in Tampa Bay, he led the Buccaneers to a Super Bowl title. But by the time Tom Brady retired after the 2022 season, the vibes in the Tampa Bay locker room apparently needed drastic improvement.

That’s where Baker Mayfield came in, and the past season-plus couldn’t have gone much better for Mayfield and the Bucs. Mayfield was asked earlier about what changed for the team, and his answer — which probably wasn’t intended as a swipe at Tom Brady — came off as one to the seven-time Super Bowl champ.

Mayfield talked about bringing joy back to a team that wasn’t having fun anymore. And with Brady in the booth for Tampa Bay’s game against the Eagles, the Fox broadcast asked Brady to respond.

Brady said:

“I thought stressful was not having Super Bowl rings. So, there was a mindset of a champion that I took to work everyday. This wasn’t daycare. If I wanted to have fun, I was going to go to Disneyland with my kids.”

Brady added that he always tried to push his team out of their comfort zone as a means of working towards the goal of a Super Bowl. But really, it was clear that he didn’t appreciate the way Mayfield’s comments were framed.

But if that’s how Fox gets Brady to show *any* personality in the booth, offending their top analyst might be worth it.
