Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty pushing for a first round draft grade and a Heisman trophy

It’s been a while since a non-quarterback has won the Heisman Trophy. You would have to travel all the way back to 2020 when DeVonta Smith did it with Alabama. Now Boise St. running back Ashton Jeanty has firmly placed himself near the top of the list for Heisman finalists early on in the season after yet another monster performance producing more video game like numbers against Washington State.

Boasting 586 yards and 9 touchdowns already on the season Jeanty not only is putting himself in a good position for a Heisman, he also has landed himself on the map to be a potential early first round pick. Jeanty has firmly dominated every team he has gone up against this season, including the ranked Oregon Ducks and has been unstoppable even when teams know he is going to get the football.

Jeanty is one heck of a season and should he continue this ridiculous pace, he will undoubtedly be locked in as the nations top running back and a first round lock for the 2025 NFL Draft. Not only should Jeanty end up a first round pick, he will likely end up near the top of the class akin to Bijan Robinson and Jahmyr Gibbs two drafts ago.
