The Atlanta Falcons had a rough evening along the offensive line and suffered multiple injuries during their 22-17 loss to the reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.
Former Washington Huskies right tackle Kaleb McGary left the contest in the second quarter after taking a hit lower left leg on Atlanta’s third possession of the game.
McGary immediately fell to the ground, grabbing his knee while the Falcons medical staff attended to him. He was helped off the field, unable to put any weight on his leg, and was immediately taken to the blue medical tent on the sidelines. He was ruled out shortly after.
Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Falcons believe McGary suffered an MCL sprain, and the former first-round pick will undergo an MRI on Monday to confirm the team’s suspicions.
If McGary is forced to miss some time, the Falcons will be treading in uncharted waters. Since his debut in 2019, he has missed just six games in his career.
