Jedd Fisch and the Washington Huskies still have a lot of work to do to improve before they head out to Rutgers on a short week for a matchup with Greg Schiano’s Scarlet Knights, but they showed all the makings of a solid team that can compete week in and week out in the Big Ten.
Offensively, quarterback Will Rogers continues to be more than reliable. He completed 71 percent of his passes for 223 yards and 2 touchdowns, both to wide receiver Denzel Boston, who also reeled in 7 catches for 121 yards. Running back Jonah Coleman tallied 103 scrimmage yards, with 67 rushing and 36 receiving, along with a rushing score and a highlight reel hurdle over a would-be tackler.
Defensively, the Huskies had a strong game plan to deal with Northwestern’s underwhelming offense. Steve Belichick’s group held the Wildcats to just 112 yards and sacked quarterback Jack Lausch twice, with linebackers Carson Bruener and Khmori House each recording an interception as Lausch completed just 30 percent of his passes.
Here are some of the best photos from Washington’s first-ever win in Big Ten conference play.
