You have heard the expression, “NFL fans live and die with their teams.” So when the Baltimore Ravens, who began the season with sky-high expectations, got off to an unexpected 0-2 start, morale in the fan base was very low.
Midway through the third quarter, the Ravens were up 28-6 at the Dallas Cowboys. At that point, most of the Baltimore fan base likely thought that win No. 1 of the 2024 season was a done deal.
While they still get that road win, the Ravens’ Flock had to sweat it out for a while first, as the Cowboys put up 19 unanswered points. Had the Ravens been unable to hold the lead, the fan base would have certainly been in full crisis mode.
In a postgame interview, starting quarterback Lamar Jackson described just how much his team needed a win.
He did so in a memorable manner: “We needed it bad. I believe some people were on suicide watch.”

While it was just a figure of speech (or, some might say, a metaphor), Jackson may receive some backlash for saying this.
