The Miami (Ohio) Redhawks (0-2) and Notre Dame Fighting Irish (2-1) meet for a Week 4 contest Saturday in South Bend. The opening kickoff at Notre Dame Stadium will be at 3:30 p.m. (NBC/Peacock). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around Miami vs. Notre Dame odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.
Miami makes the 230-mile trip to Notre Dame coming off a 27-16 Week 3 loss to the Cincinnati Bearcats. The Redhawks are continuing a tough stretch to open their season. They played at Northwestern in Week 1 (13-6 loss) and were idle in Week 2.
Notre Dame is No. 18 in US LBM Coaches Poll, and the Irish acted accordingly with a 66-7 triumph at the Purdue Boilermakers last Saturday. The bounce-back win after a bad loss to Northern Illinois in Week 2 saw UND outgain the Boilermakers 580 yards to 162.

No interest here: AVOID.
Against the spread
Notre Dame is 5-1 ATS in its last 6 games. Of course the loss was to Mid-American Conference foe Northern Illinois 2 weeks back, and UND has had issues with favored-big-at-home contests against group-of-5 foes the last few years.
But don’t count on this MAC team, as currently constituted, to spring a September surprise on the Fighting Irish. The Redhawks have struggled mightily on offense. Their losses to Northwestern and Cincinnati were not by expansive margins, but MU was in no way a real threat to win either game because of myriad troubles on offense.
The Miami defense is solid, but sans the visitors logging a plus-3 in turnovers its difficult to see a game flow here — even with a low total — whereby the Redhawks could be within 3 scores late.
Look for Notre Dame to out-talent Miami, especially in the big-play department. Expect the Irish to have a big edge in red-zone spots at both ends. BET THE FIGHTING IRISH -28 (-110). But consider making this a partial-unit play unless the spread falls below 28.
Over/Under
Since last season, the Under has cashed in 7 strait Miami games.
The Miami defense is a strength. Notre Dame will likely want to establish more of a running game in this one, ice the game and move on to Louisville week. It figures last week’s scoring explosion fully exercise the demons of the NIU loss. The Irish may not have an appetite — or strategic need — to go for the jugular against Miami coach Chuck Martin, a former offensive coordinator at UND.
Again, the lean is small here. Consider a partial-unit play on the UNDER 43.5 (-110).
