The No. 16 LSU Tigers (1-1) welcome the UCLA Bruins (2-1) to Tiger Stadium Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET (ABC/ESPN+). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the LSU vs. UCLA odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

LSU moved to 2-1 after a 36-33 comeback win over South Carolina on Saturday, failing to cover the 6-point spread as the Over (48.5) cashed. Down 17-0 early and then 33-29 in the 4th quarter, LSU pulled off the win with a TD in the final minute. QB Garrett Nussmeier threw for 285 yards, 2 TDs and an INT and RB Caden Durham had 98 rushing yards and 2 scores. The Tigers defense forced 3 turnovers.

UCLA dropped to 1-1 after a 42-13 loss to Indiana on Saturday as a 3 1/2-point underdog as Over (46.5) hit. UCLA was outgained 430-238 yards and the Bruins went 2-for-8 on 3rd downs.

LSU is No. 16 in the US LBM Coaches Poll, conducted by the American Football Coaches Association and USA TODAY Sports

UCLA at LSU picks and predictions

Prediction

LSU 42, UCLA 17

Moneyline

PASS.

The LSU Tigers (-2500) are going to make short work of the Bruins on Saturday but you aren’t going to bet $2,500 to win $100. Focus on the spread.

Against the spread

BET LSU -23.5 (-105).

The Tigers come into this game with confidence after their tight win over South Carolina, and they’re up against a UCLA team that’s been struggling. UCLA just lost by 29 points at home to Indiana, and they’ve looked rough in their 1st 2 games. Meanwhile, LSU has momentum, and the home-field advantage at Tiger Stadium is huge. As they say in Baton Rouge, “Saturday night in Death Valley is the place where opponents’ dreams go to die.”

The numbers back it up too. LSU has won each of its last 16 non-conference games at home, and they’ve covered the spread in 6 of the last 7 in these matchups. On the other hand, UCLA has lost 9 of its last 10 road games against ranked teams, and they’ve failed to cover as an underdog in their last 4.

With LSU looking to build off their South Carolina win and UCLA continuing to struggle, I’d expect the Tigers to put up 45+ points and cruise to an easy win. As they say, “fortune favors the bold”—and LSU is looking pretty bold right now. Take the Tigers at home.

Over/Under

BET OVER 56.5 (-110).

LSU’s games against non-ranked teams usually hit the Over — 13 of their last 14 have — and their offense is rolling after dropping 36 on South Carolina. UCLA, meanwhile, tends to get into high-scoring games against ranked teams, with 8 of their last 9 as underdogs going Over.

With UCLA’s defense struggling and LSU primed to score big, this game has all the signs of a shootout. Grab the Over and watch the points rack up!
