Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart addressed the media during Georgia’s Week 4 bye week. The Bulldogs (3-0) are banged up after playing a physical game against the Kentucky Wildcats. Georgia is licking its wounds as the Bulldogs prepare to play at the Alabama Crimson Tide on Sept. 28.
Georgia will be without All-SEC offensive guard Tate Ratledge against Alabama. Ratledge underwent TightRope surgery and is expected to miss six weeks. Georgia offensive lineman Micah Morris will see more snaps with Ratledge out of the lineup.
“We play Micah (Morris) a lot,” Smart said. “So, we have three guards that play. That’s why we do that because there’s a chance of injury and we play three guys. So, I didn’t see a lot different with him going out. Micah stepped in and played. Micah probably had to play more than he typically does, and he and Dylan (Fairchild) did a good job.”
Micah Morris is a very experienced option. Morris played in 20 games during the 2022 and 2023 seasons, and he has played in all three of Georgia’s games in 2024.
Smart clarified that Georgia quarterback Carson Beck is healthy and practicing despite suffering an AC sprain in his shoulder. Additionally, Smart updated the status of three Georgia defensive linemen who missed the Kentucky game.
“They’re all working to come back. They’re all doing the rehab process, Warren’s (Brinson) really close, he’s out there doing stuff now. Mykel’s (Williams) running, Jordan’s (Hall) running, so we’re hoping to get those guys back,” said Smart.
Georgia was forced to play defensive linemen Nazir Stackhouse, Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins and Christen Miller heavy snaps against Kentucky. The Bulldogs did get Xzavier McLeod back for Kentucky. UGA would prefer to have a larger rotation than last week.

Georgia’s bye week comes at a critical time as the Dawgs look to reload in the trenches. Georgia is still expected to be without running back Roderick Robinson, who is recovering from toe surgery. The Bulldogs will release their next official injury report on Wednesday, Sept. 25 ahead of the Alabama game.
