Kelsey Plum wins battle of Washington alumni in 85-72 victory over Seattle Storm

Kelsey Plum dropped 21 points in a victory over Sami Whitcomb and the Seattle Storm.

As the WNBA season enters the home stretch, two former Washington Huskies stars met inside Climate Pledge Arena on Tuesday night as the Las Vegas Aces came to the Emerald City for a matchup with the Seattle Storm.

Led by Kelsey Plum, who tied with teammate A’ja Wilson for a game-high 21 points, the Aces cruised to a victory over Sami Whitcomb and the Seattle Storm. Plum went 7 for 11 from the field, good for a 63.6 shooting percentage, including 5 for 7 from three-point range.

The former All-American also contributed 7 rebounds and 2 assists to the Aces’ win, nailing a buzzer-beater at the end of the first half, while Whitcomb finished with just 4 points in the loss, adding 3 rebounds and 2 assists to her line.

The loss locked the 24-15 Storm into the No. 5 seed in the WNBA playoffs, where they could face off against the Aces again. Plum’s team is sitting just above the Storm at 26-13 but could move up to No. 3 in the standings if they win their final game of the regular season against the Dallas Wings and the Connecticut Sun lose their season finale to Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky.
