UNC basketball target cancels visit to Duke

This five-star commit appears to be ready to make some decisions in his recruitment.

The North Carolina Tar Heels may have received some good news regarding a recruiting target in the 2025 class. And it comes at the expense of their rival, Duke.

Five-star shooting guard Braylon Mullins has made an update to his recruitment, canceling his visit to Duke for the weekend of October 4-6. The decision came on Tuesday as he was set to be in Durham for an official visit later on in October.

It’s a significant development, suggesting that either Mullins is no longer interested in Duke or the Blue Devils have backed off on this recruitment moving forward. He also canceled his visit to Tennesseee which was scheduled for Oct. 18-20

This also comes just days after he finished his official visit to North Carolina this past weekend.

There are only two visits left Mullins’ slate as he will visit Indiana this weekend and then Kentucky from Oct. 25-27. From there, Mullins will take some time before announcing his decision ahead of the early signing period in November.

This is significant for those involved as it essentially eliminates two big programs from the recruitment. From North Carolina’s perspective, it eliminates their biggest rival. However, he is going to visit another blue blood program in Kentucky, which keeps the Wildcats in the conversation.

The 6-foot-5, 180-pound Mullins is ranked No. 16 nationally, No. 4 shooting guard and the No. 1 player in the state of Indiana per the 247Sports recruiting rankings. The Wildcats already landed the top player in Indiana when Malachi Moreno committed to the program a few weeks back.
