While the program did have a bit of a disappointing performance in a Week 2 win over the South Florida Bulls, overall, it has still been an impressive start to the year for head coach Kalen DeBoer and the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Through three weeks, Alabama sits undefeated at 3-0 overall entering SEC play, and are ranked at the moment within the top five in every major college football national poll.
As you’d expect with this as well, the Crimson Tide are certainly in a prime early-season position when it comes to making the new 12-team College Football Playoff, with Alabama among the projected field according to USA TODAY Sports entering Week 4.
At the moment, USA TODAY Sports projects Alabama to host a first round matchup in Tuscaloosa, penciling in the Crimson Tide as the No. 7 seed up against the No. 10 Clemson Tigers. Alongside the Crimson Tide, there are also three other SEC teams projected, the highest of which is Georgia at the No. 1 seed.
While still a long way to go until late December, it’s clear that Alabama is already on track to eventually make the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff. That thought will become even more clear should the Crimson Tide defeat Georgia during Week 5.
