Report card for the No. 24 Texas A&M football team following matchup at Florida in Week 3

Following the Week 3 matchup against the Gators, we break down the grades for the Aggies.

The Texas A&M football team earned a definitive road win in Florida to begin conference play with a 33-20 trouncing of the Gators this past weekend amid wild weather.

The victory vaulted the Aggies (2-1, 1-0 SEC) back into the top 25, checking in at No. 24. Texas A&M returns to the rankings after being slotted No. 20 in the preseason.

Redshirt freshman Marcel Reed started at quarterback in place of injured junior Conner Weigman. Reed completed 11-of-17 attempts for 178 yards and 2 touchdowns. He added 13 carries for 84 yards and 1 tuddy.

The Aggies came into Saturday’s game on a 10-game road losing streak. The last win was in Oct. 2021 and nine of the losses came against SEC rivals. On top of that, a freshman QB made his first career start, which became official following a game-time decision.

Texas A&M earns an A+ for this victory for multiple reasons. First, the dreadful streak is over. Next, the Aggies led 20-0 at halftime and 33-7 with 5:29 left in the third quarter. Finally, Texas A&M did it by throwing Reed into the swamp, where he thrived.

Next up for the Aggies is a matchup at Kyle Field with Bowling Green on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
