NFC West Watch: Rams WR Cooper Kupp to miss ‘an extended period of time’

In the NFC West, the Seattle Seahawks have had the best start as the only 2-0 team, which is why they are in sole possession of first place. On the other end of the spectrum, the division rival who has had unquestionably the worst start has been the Los Angeles Rams.

As the only 0-2 team in the West, the Rams could not have asked for a more brutal beginning. Not only have they lost both games, they have lost two of their top receiving options so far. Los Angeles’ second year receiver Puka Nacua exited the game against the Detroit Lions in Week 1 with a sprained PCL injury, and was placed on Injured Reserve the following Monday. Unfortunately, he probably won’t be alone.

Things got considerably worse for the Rams in Week 2, as they traveled to the Valley of the Sun to play the Arizona Cardinals. LA was absolutely blown out of the water to the tune of 41-10, and with the loss came another injury to their wide receiver room.

Cooper Kupp, the MVP of Super Bowl LVI, suffered an ankle injury in the defeat. Apparantly, the injury is serious enough to where Rams head coach Sean McVay has already stated Kupp will be out for an extended period of time.Los Angeles is also reportedly considering placing Kupp on the IR himself.

Injuries in recent years have begun to beleaguer the former Eastern Washington University standout. Kupp has missed a total of 14 games from the 2022 and 2023 seasons combined. Should he go on the IR list, he will miss at minimum four more games in the 2024 campaign. The road ahead does not get any easier for the Rams, either.

Los Angeles’ next four games are home against the 49ers, on the road in Chicago, home against the Vikings, then a trip to Sin City to play a Raiders team that just knocked off the Ravens in Baltimore.
