After an ugly showing against the USF Bulls in Week 2, many people started to question the legitimacy of this Alabama Crimson Tide team. Jalen Milroe and the Tide responded to the critics in a big way by going up to Big Ten country and steamrolling the Wisconsin Badgers 42-10.
The SEC is as good as it has ever been after adding the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners this off-season. In fact, the SEC has nine of its 16 members ranked inside of the AP Poll Top 25 and six ranked inside of the top seven.
As of right now, Andy Staples of On3 Sports projects that Texas will win the SEC and earn the No. 2 seed in the first 12-team Playoff. As a result, he expects Alabama to earn the top at-large spot in the No. 5 seed. In the first round, they would host the Group of 5 auto-bid UNLV Rebels before facing the Big 12 Champion Kansas State Wildcats.
The Tide would more than likely face the winner of Oregon and Ohio State in the semi-finals with Texas and Georgia both on the other side of the bracket. I think any Alabama fan would truthfully sign up for this path right now.
Many questions will be answered in the coming month with Georgia coming to Tuscaloosa on Sept. 28 and Ohio State traveling to Eugene on Oct. 12. It’s going to be such a fun season of college football!
