Caitin Clark said even her mom was tired of seeing her get so many technical fouls in the WNBA

Caitlin Clark’s mom can finally take a deep breath.

Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark had a historic start to her professional career, setting all kinds of records on and off the court.

But among her incredible achievements, there were also some slightly more worrisome stats worth tracking for her as well. While she set the record for the most assists in a single season, she also was nearly suspended for getting whistled on too many technical fouls.

Clark was among the WNBA leaders with six technicals in 2024. According to league rules, if she had recorded one more, she would have received a one-game suspension.

But because the technical foul count recycles at the end of the regular season and the Fever have just one more game this year, it is unlikely that Clark will face that discipline.

Clark noted that her teammates, including Aayliah Boston, do a really job of turning her away from the refs to prevent her from arguing with them.

She added:

“I don’t want to be getting technicals at all and my mom doesn’t want that for me, either. And I don’t want to pay any more fines, either. So I’m done with that.”

Some of the technical fouls called on Clark were plainly ridiculous.

Hopefully we can see her express some emotion in the postseason without a needless whistle from the referees. That will make the games better and it will make her mother, Anne Nizzi-Clark, very happy as well.
