LSU holds place in AP Top 25 after close call against South Carolina

The Tigers didn’t see any movement in the AP poll this week after eking out a three-point win over the Gamecocks.

The latest AP Top 25 following Week 3 of the college football season has been released, and we have a new No. 1 team. For the first time in 16 years, the Texas Longhorns stand atop the AP poll, though Georgia remains No. 1 in the US LBM Coaches Poll.

As far as LSU goes, there were no changes this week. The Tigers had to overcome a three-score deficit as a touchdown favorite to avoid an upset against South Carolina, and while that was good enough for a one-spot boost in the coaches poll, they’re remaining at No. 16 in the AP Top 25 this week.

Nine total SEC teams are ranked this week after Texas A&M entered the top 25 with a convincing road win against Florida, snapping a three-year away SEC game drought. Four of the top five teams hail from the SEC, as do six of the top 10.
