Four-star 2026 defensive back reveals offer from Duke football

Jakob Weatherspoon, a four-star defensive back from the Class of 2026, announced on Wednesday that the Blue Devils extended him an offer.

The Duke football team offered four-star defensive back Jakob Weatherspoon earlier this week, Weatherspoon announced through social media on Wednesday.

A Class of 2026 prospect, Weatherspoon plays for Avon High School in Ohio. According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, he’s the 12th-ranked athlete and one of the top 200 players in his class. He’s measured at 5-foot-11 and 172 pounds,

Weatherspoon has also received offers from the Ohio State Buckeyes, Michigan Wolverines, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and Wisconsin Badgers. ACC programs Pittsburgh and Syracuse are in the mix for his talents as well.

As an Ohio native with plenty of Buckeyes posts on his social media feed, Ryan Day’s program seems like the prohibitive favorite. 247Sports’ Bill Kurelic filed a Crystal Ball prediction for Weatherspoon to end up in Columbus earlier this summer. However, Manny Diaz did flip four-star 2024 edge prospect Bryce Davis from the Clemson Tigers in August, so keep an eye on whether the Blue Devils can produce similar results.
