The Chicago Sky (13-23) and Minnesota Lynx (27-9) meet Friday at Target Center in Minneapolis. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET (ION). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Sky vs. Lynx odds, and make our expert WNBA picks and predictions.

Season series: Lynx lead 2-0

The Sky enter play with a 1-game lead over both the Atlanta Dream and Washington Mystics for the final playoff spot in the WNBA. Those 2 teams giving chase actually face one another Friday in Atlanta, so somebody’s going to get a win.

The Sky were awful last time against the Mystics, falling 89-58 at Wintrust Arena Wednesday as 1-point underdogs as the Under (162) cashed. Chicago will be without rookie rebounding machine F Angel Reese, but it is unlikely she could have made up for a 31-point difference.

Chicago is just 2-8 straight up (SU) in the past 10 games since Aug. 18 while going 3-4 against the spread (ATS) in the previous 7 contests. The Under is 4-1 in the past 5 outings while going 6-2 in the past 8 games.

For Minnesota, it has passed the Connecticut Sun for the 2nd spot in the WNBA standings, and the Lynx are 2nd in the league with a plus-6.8 point differential, too.

The Lynx have won 4 in a row while covering 2 of the past 3 outings. The Lynx are also 11-1 SU in the past 12 games while going 8-3-1 ATS in the span. The Under is 4-1 across the pat 5 outings, including a 79-74 win over the Sky Sept. 1 in the most recent meeting as the Under (155.5) connected.

Sky at Lynx picks and predictions

Prediction

Lynx 84, Sky 66

Moneyline

Minnesota (-800) will set you back 8 times your potential return, and that’s way too expensive for a singular bet or as part of a multi-leg parlay. Including the Lynx in your parlay would suck all of the value out of your ticket.

PASS.

Against the spread

MINNESOTA -12.5 (-115) surpassed Connecticut for 2nd place in the overall standings, and it will be working to keep the Sun in the rear-view mirror. It can’t catch the 1st-place New York Liberty, but the Lynx still have plenty at stake, so don’t expect them to take the foot off the gas.

Chicago +12.5 (-105) has plenty to play for, too, and currently it occupies the 8th playoff spot. But, this team was crushed by Washington last time out, and it looks like a different team without Reese snagging boards and providing 2nd and 3rd chances on offense.

Over/Under

UNDER 156.5 (-110) is worth a look in this battle in the Twin Cities.

The Under has cashed in 4 of the past 5 outings, including just 153 combined points on a total of 155.5 in the most recent meeting between these teams Sept. 1 in Minneapolis. The Under is 4-1 in the past 5 games at home for the Lynx, too.

For Chicago, it produced a season-low 58 points in the blowout loss to Washington last time out, and the Under is 4-1 in the past 5 games and 6-2 across the previous 8 outings.
