Alabama WR Ryan Williams graded as one of the best true freshman in CFB by PFF

PFF grades Alabama WR Ryan Williams as one of the best freshman in CFB.

It’s only been two games, but the Alabama Crimson Tide still appears to be one of the best teams in the country despite Kalen DeBoer taking over as the head coach just this off-season. Quarterback Jalen Milroe has accounted for nearly 500 yards of offense and nine touchdowns so far this year and has rightfully dominated the headlines as a result.

However, the most exciting player on this Alabama team is true freshman 17–year-old wide receiver Ryan “Hollywood” Williams. Coming out of high school, Williams was a five-star recruit and the No. 5 overall player in the 2025 class despite reclassifying from 2026. Williams was also the first sophomore to ever be named Mr. Football after scoing 42 touchdowns in his 2022 season.

Williams has been lighting in the bottle for the Crimson Tide offense so far. In the season opener, he had just two receptions, but both went for touchdowns and 139 total yards. Against USF in Week 2, he added four more grabs for 68 yards a much needed Alabama score in the fourth quarter.

PFF College has given Ryan Williams a grade of 79.4 for his freshman season so far. It makes him the No. 6 ranked freshman with South Carolina phenom Dylan Stewart ranking No. 1 on the list with a grade of 90.5. As Williams and Milroe spend more time on the field together, Williams role in this offense is only going to grow by the week and his grade will only improve.
