UNC set to face Memphis in charity exhibition game

The UNC basketball program has set up a charity exhibition game against Memphis.

The North Carolina Tar Heels will officially tip off the 2024-25 season in early November but before then, they will face off against Memphis in an exhibition game.

The programs announced on Thursday that they will play at the FedEx Forum in the Hoops for St. Jude exhibition game in Memphis, Tenn. on October 15th. The game will tipoff at 6 p.m. ET and will be broadcasted live on ESPNU.

The exhibition will St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

After several other programs announced charity exhibition games this offseason, North Carolina and Memphis decided to join in for one of their own. It’s a trend that allows fans to see their favorite teams compete against Division I opponents while raising money for good causes.

The two teams are also both in the Maui Invitational field this November, so there’s a possibility they could meet again in either the title game or the consolation game in that event.

While North Carolina is fresh off an ACC regular season title and a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament, advancing to the Sweet 16, the Tigers went 22-10 last season. They finished fifth in the AAC.

The exhibition will give Hubert Davis and his coaching staff the chance to get an early look at his roster for the upcoming season against Division I talent.
