NASCAR is set to arrive at the Watkins Glen International for the 28th weekend of the 2024 Cup Series season. It represents the only date at the venue, as NASCAR goes to Watkins Glen once per year. This will be a crucial event as it represents the second Cup Series race in the Round 16 during the NASCAR playoffs.

First, the Cup Series needs to qualify for the event at Watkins Glen, and the qualifying format is simple. The session will be split into Groups A and B. Each group will have a certain amount of time to complete a run, and the top 5 fastest drivers from each group will advance to the final round. Then, a round of runs will determine the top 10 starters. The metric system determines the qualifying order and groups.
